Most people who contact a financial advisory firm don't walk in with a neatly labelled need. They say things like "I need some funding for the business" or "my EMI is too high" or "I want to start investing but don't know where." The label comes later, once someone actually looks at the numbers. That's how we approach it too, which is why SME CFO Services covers the full range, from business loans to personal loans, investments and insurance, rather than a single product.
If you're in Ahmedabad, Pune, or Mumbai and trying to work out which of these fits your situation, this page walks through all ten, in plain terms, with a pointer to the detailed guide for each.
Loans for Individuals and Families
1. Home Loan (HL)
For buying, constructing, or extending a residential property. Home loans are the cheapest credit most people will ever access because the property itself secures the loan, which is why comparing lenders properly matters: even a small rate difference compounds into a large amount over a 20 to 30 year tenure. We compare across our partner banks and NBFCs rather than quoting one lender's rate.
2. Personal Loan for Salaried Professionals and Company Directors
Quick, unsecured funding for personal needs. The thing most people don't realise is that a salaried employee and a company director get assessed very differently: salaried applicants are sized on take-home pay, while directors are assessed on the company's financial strength too. Applying through the right route changes how much you can actually access.
3. Loan Takeover and Top-Up Loan at a Lower Interest Rate
If you're already paying a loan at a higher rate than the market currently offers, a loan takeover (balance transfer) moves it to a cheaper lender, and a top-up lets you borrow additional funds against the same asset at the new, lower rate. It makes most sense when you have several years of tenure left and a meaningful rate gap, because that's where the interest saving adds up. It's also a common way to consolidate more expensive borrowing into one cheaper EMI.
Loans for Businesses
4. Working Capital Limit (CC/OD)
A revolving credit line against your stock and receivables, so you can fund day-to-day operations without waiting for customers to pay. You draw what you need and pay interest only on what you use. For businesses with long debtor cycles, this is usually the backbone of financing, and the limit depends heavily on how your Drawing Power is calculated and presented.
5. CGTMSE Loan Without Property (Up to ₹10 Crore)
Collateral-free business funding backed by a government credit guarantee. If your business is asset-light, or you simply don't want to mortgage property to grow, CGTMSE lets eligible MSMEs borrow up to ₹10 crore without pledging it. It suits manufacturers, processors, and many service businesses that are Udyam-registered.
6. Unsecured Business Loan
Fast business funding that doesn't need collateral, assessed on your turnover, banking behaviour and credit profile. It's often used alongside an existing working capital limit for a specific expansion or purchase, and can be disbursed faster than most secured products when documentation is clean.
7. Loan Against Property (LAP)
Raise large funds, up to ₹50 crore for eligible borrowers, against residential, commercial or industrial property you already own, without selling it. LAP carries a lower rate than unsecured borrowing and longer tenures, which makes it a common choice for big expansion plans and for consolidating costlier debt.
8. Non-Fund Based Limits: Bank Guarantee, Letter of Credit and Surety Bond
These don't put cash in your account. They put a bank's or an insurer's name behind your commitment, which is often what wins a tender or secures a trade deal. A Bank Guarantee backs your performance on a contract, a Letter of Credit secures payment in a trade transaction, and a Surety Bond is the newer, insurer-backed alternative that can free up the cash margin a BG would lock away.
Protecting and Growing What You Have
9. Mutual Fund and Wealth Advisory
Investing with a plan rather than a scatter of SIPs. We start from your goals and timelines, then work out allocation and review what you already hold, instead of leading with fund names. It's especially relevant for business owners whose wealth is concentrated in a single asset, their own company.
10. Insurance: Term Plan, Loan Cover, and Stock and Property Cover
The cover most people put off until it's too late. A term plan protects your family's future, loan cover makes sure a large loan doesn't pass to them if something happens to you, and stock and property insurance protects the business assets that your credit facilities often depend on.
Which One Is Right for You?
A quick way to orient yourself: if the money is for the business's ongoing operations, start with working capital. If it's a one-time expansion and you don't want to pledge property, look at CGTMSE or an unsecured loan. If you own property and need a large amount, LAP. If you're bidding on a contract, you're probably looking at a guarantee. If you're paying too much on an existing loan, a takeover. And if your question is about protecting or growing money rather than borrowing it, that's the investment and insurance side.
If more than one of those sounds like you, that's normal. Most businesses end up using a combination, and the value of looking at them together is that each one is structured with the others in mind.
Serving Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai
We're headquartered in Ahmedabad and work with clients across Gujarat, as well as in Mumbai and Pune. Each of these cities has its own rhythm: Ahmedabad's manufacturing and trading base leans on working capital and CGTMSE, Mumbai's trade and services community leans on fast unsecured credit and trade instruments, and Pune's IT, auto-component and manufacturing mix uses a bit of everything. The advice changes accordingly, which is why we don't hand out a one-size-fits-all answer.
Common Questions
Do I have to use all ten services?
Not at all. Most clients come to us for one need, often a loan, and add others only if they turn out to be useful.
Is SME CFO Services a lender?
No. We're an independent advisory firm. We work with a network of 45+ banks and NBFCs and help match your requirement to the lender most likely to approve it on good terms. The sanction itself always rests with the lender.
Which service should a small business start with?
It depends on what you're funding. Ongoing operations point to working capital, while a one-time expansion without collateral points to CGTMSE or an unsecured loan. A short conversation usually clarifies it quickly.
Do you serve clients outside Ahmedabad?
Yes. We work with clients across Gujarat, in Mumbai and in Pune, and our lender network is pan-India.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. The first consultation and an initial eligibility review come at no cost and with no obligation.
