Most business loan applications that stall don't stall because the business is weak. They stall because the papers do not agree with each other: GST says one thing, the bank statement says another, and the lender cannot tell which to trust. You can find most of these problems yourself in about five minutes. Go through the twelve points below, count your "yes" answers, and then decide whether to apply now or fix a few things first.

The 12-Point Loan-Readiness Checklist
Your registrations and records
- Do you have a valid Udyam registration? Most MSME schemes, including CGTMSE, depend on it, and it is free to obtain.
- Have you filed GST returns for the last 12 months, on time? Gaps and late filings make lenders ask questions.
- Do you have financial statements and ITR for the last 2 to 3 years? Newer businesses should have whatever periods exist.
- Are your KYC details consistent everywhere? Name, address and constitution should be the same across PAN, GST, Udyam and bank records.
Your numbers
- Does the turnover in your GST returns roughly match the credits in your bank account? This is the first thing most lenders check. If there is a gap, can you explain it in a sentence?
- Does your business's money go through the bank account you will show the lender? Sales that never touch the account are hard for a lender to count.
- Do you maintain a steady balance, without frequent bounced cheques or overdrawn days?
- If you want working capital: are your stock and debtor statements current and consistent with your accounts?
Your credit position
- Do you know your credit score and have you checked the report for errors? Both the business's and the promoter's score can matter.
- Are all your existing loans and cards paid on time, with nothing overdue?
- Have you avoided applying to many lenders in the last few months? Each formal application leaves an enquiry on your report.
Your plan
- Can you say, in one sentence, how much you need, what for, and how you will repay it? A clear purpose helps a lender, and helps you choose the right product.
How to Read Your Score
This is a rough self-check, not a lender's credit score, and no lender uses this exact method. It simply shows where the usual trouble starts.
| "Yes" answers | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| 10 to 12 | Your file is in good shape. The next question is which product and lender fit you best. |
| 7 to 9 | Close. Fix the "no" items first, especially points 5, 9 and 10, then apply. |
| Below 7 | Several things need work. Applying now may lead to a rejection and an extra credit enquiry. Fix the basics first. |
The Most Common Fixes
- GST and bank do not match: reconcile twelve months side by side and write a short note on each difference, such as cash sales, advances or timing.
- No Udyam: register. It takes little time and unlocks several schemes.
- Errors in the credit report: raise a correction with the credit bureau and the lender concerned.
- Overdue amounts: clear them before you apply.
- Too many enquiries: pause for a while and shortlist, instead of applying again at once.
Which Loan Should You Look At After That?
- Daily cash flow tied up in stock and payments: working capital limit (Cash Credit or Overdraft)
- Expansion without property to pledge: CGTMSE-backed or unsecured term loan
- Large amount with property available: loan against property
- A tender or trade deal: bank guarantee or letter of credit
- An existing loan that is too expensive: loan takeover or top-up

Common Questions
Can I get a loan with a low score on this checklist?
Possibly, but you may face a rejection or worse terms. Fixing the basics first usually saves time and avoids extra credit enquiries.
Is this the same as my credit score?
No. It is a self-check of how ready your papers are. Your credit score comes from a credit bureau, and each lender has its own assessment.
What documents should I keep ready?
PAN, Aadhaar, business registration papers, Udyam certificate if you have one, 2 to 3 years of financials and ITR, 12 months of GST returns and bank statements, stock and debtor statements for working capital, and details of existing loans.
Do you guarantee approval?
No. Only the lender decides, and nobody can honestly guarantee it. We help you present a stronger case and approach suitable lenders.
Do you serve cities other than Ahmedabad?
Yes. We work with clients across Gujarat, in Mumbai and in Pune, through a network of banks and NBFCs.
